If you’re like me, waking up in the morning is always a struggle. Getting yourself out of bed is enough work, let alone having to cook breakfast for the whole family.
Many people settle for coffee or a breakfast bar, as it’s quick and easy. But why settle for mediocre when breakfast is the most important meal of the day?
That’s where this recipe from Top Ten Reviews comes in. Rather than force yourself out of bed to prepare yourself or your kids a decent breakfast, the slow cooker does the work for you! All you have to do is prep a couple ingredients the night before and toss them into the slow cooker to wake up to a hot and delicious breakfast the whole family will enjoy.
Using a couple slices of bread (it can be any type of bread and even day-old bread works well), toss the slices into your slow cooker. You can break them up to make them more bite size or just leave them as is.
You’ll then assemble your mixture to soak the bread in. Top Ten Reviews used a sweet blend of eggs, cinnamon, vanilla extract and milk. However, you could get creative here since this will be the base of your flavor for the French toast. Try adding in a little bit of orange liqueur instead of vanilla extract!
You’ll then pour the mixture over your bread, ensuring each slice is thoroughly coated.
Add a generous helping of brown sugar over everything, cover your slow cooker and then let it cook for a few hours or overnight!
When you wake up, scoop yourself a little bit and enjoy! Top with some fresh fruit, maple syrup or whipped cream for an added touch of morning goodness!
